Vibrational essences are liquid remedies that carry the energetic imprint of flowers, plants, trees, crystals, or other natural sources. These essences are infused into pure water and preserved usually with alcohol and are typically taken in small doses under the tongue or added to water but are effective if they are placed near or on the skin, inhaled or injested.
They work by subtly supporting the body’s emotional and energetic balance, helping to shift unhelpful patterns or moods without suppressing them. Vibrational essences contain no physical plant material, they are completely non-toxic and safe for people of all ages including children and pets. They can also be used alongside medications or other therapies without risk of side effects or interactions.
Rather than treating physical symptoms directly, vibrational essences work on an energetic level encouraging emotional clarity, inner calm, and a greater sense of well-being.
Vibrational flower and crystal essences are natural remedies used around the world in energy medicine to support emotional, energetic, and spiritual balance. They are gentle, safe for all ages, and suitable for anyone seeking deeper harmony in their life.
Each essence is created by capturing the unique vibrational imprint of a flower or crystal in water. This process preserves the energetic signature similar to a fingerprint of the plant or stone. The healing properties of a flower or crystal can vary based on its species, color, size, shape, and even the environment in which it grew.
Once captured, these vibrational energies continue to resonate within the liquid. When taken orally, used topically, placed near the skin or integrated into mists and sprays, they work subtly through the body’s energetic field to gently release stagnant emotions, outdated patterns, and internal imbalances that no longer serve your well-being.
At Purethica, we blend pacific vibrational flower essences sourced from powerful botanical regions such as Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Fiji with crystal essences to craft products that go far beyond traditional skincare. Each step of our creation process has been intentional, thoughtful, and deeply rooted with healing intention and love.
The result is a beautiful, multi-sensory collection designed to uplift your body, your space, and even your pets.
At Purethica, we create products that are not only non-toxic, sustainably made, and ethically sourced, but also infused with therapeutic vibrational flower and crystal essences.
A common misconception among new users is thinking that vibrational essences are the same as essential oils. While both offer therapeutic benefits, they work in completely different ways.
Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts derived from plants. They capture the plant's scent, flavour, or active compounds. These oils are typically used topically, where they are absorbed through the skin, or aromatically, where their scent travels via the olfactory nerves to the brain. This can stimulate the amygdala the emotional center of the brain triggering emotional responses and memories. Essential oils may also provide physical support, such as improving circulation, fighting bacteria, or aiding skin healing and are mainly used topically.
Vibrational essences, on the other hand, do not contain the physical components of plants or crystals. Instead, they are liquid infusions carrying the energetic imprint or "vibration" of a flower, plant, or crystal. These essences work on a subtle energetic level to support emotional and spiritual well-being. Safe, gentle, and free of side effects, vibrational essences are typically taken orally or added to water and can also be used in sprays, skincare, or mists or in glass jewellery to be affective.
Together, these natural tools offer complementary forms of healing: essential oils nourish the body and senses, while vibrational essences support the emotions and energy field.
While vibrational essences today are created from a variety of natural sources, they are most widely known in their original form flower essences.
Flowers have long been used in healing, ritual, and emotional support across many cultures, and the idea of using a flower’s energy for wellbeing has ancient roots.
Historical evidence suggests early civilizations such as the Egyptians and Indigenous Australians recognized and utilized the energetic qualities of flowers in their spiritual and healing practices.
In 16th-century Europe, alchemists like Paracelsus were known to collect morning dew from flowers such as Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla Mollis), which was highly regarded for its transformative properties in their search for the legendary elixir of life.
In more recent times, the concept of flower essences was revived by Dr. Edward Bach (1886–1936). A respected physician and pathologist, Dr. Bach observed a strong connection between a person’s emotional state and their physical health. He came to believe that true healing required addressing the underlying emotional or spiritual imbalance, stating that “disease is in essence the result of a conflict between soul and mind, and will never be eradicated except by spiritual and mental effort.”
Dr. Bach left his practice on Harley Street in London to devote his life to developing a simple, natural healing system based on flower essences. His work led to the creation of the Bach Flower Remedies, a foundational system that continues to influence vibrational healing practices today.
Since then, the field has expanded globally, with practitioners crafting essences not only from flowers but also from crystals, gems, animal energies, sea elements, and other natural sources. Importantly, no harm is ever done to any living being in the creation of essences. The intention is always to respectfully capture the living vibrational energy of the element being used.
Today, vibrational essences are embraced as gentle, yet powerful, tools for emotional balance, spiritual alignment, and energetic wellbeing.
The creation of vibrational essences traditionally involves three main stages: mother essence, stock bottle, and dosage (treatment) bottle.
This is the first and most vital step. Traditionally, there are two main methods of making mother essences:
Modern essence producers may also use variations such as moonlight infusions, non-cut flowers, or intentional energetic transfers. Today, essences are made not only from flowers, but also from crystals, plants, animals, sacred locations, and other natural sources. In all cases, pure water plays a vital role in carrying the vibrational imprint.
This is the second stage. A few drops of the mother essence are added to a small, sterilised bottle containing alcohol (and sometimes water). This solution becomes the stock bottle, which is typically used by practitioners to prepare custom blends, or by individuals directly. Dr. Bach used two drops per bottle, though amounts may vary.
The final product consumed or used topically. A few drops from one or more stock essences are placed into a sterilised dropper bottle, filled with spring water and a small amount of alcohol as a preservative.
The traditional dosage is four drops, taken up to four times a day—morning, midday, evening, and bedtime. For acute emotional states, it can be taken more frequently, even every 15 minutes until balance is restored.
Essences can be:
This gentle yet profound method of preparation allows the essence to retain and transmit the natural energetic frequency of the source, supporting emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.
Water is a vital component in the making of vibrational essences, both energetically and physically, due to its unique properties that allow it to hold and transmit subtle information.
Water has a remarkable ability to absorb, store, and transmit energetic imprints. When a flower, crystal, or any natural element is placed in or near pure water during the essence-making process, the vibrational frequency or energetic signature of that element is transferred into the water.
This concept was powerfully demonstrated in the early 2000s by Dr. Masaru Emoto, whose groundbreaking research showed that water responds to the energy of words, emotions, and intentions. In his experiments, water samples exposed to positive intentions or loving words formed intricate, harmonious crystals when frozen, while those exposed to negative emotions or harsh words formed chaotic or broken patterns. His work offered visual proof of water’s sensitivity and its capacity to record emotional and energetic input.
In essence-making, this means that water doesn't just hold the physical presence of the plant or crystal—it holds the energetic blueprint, making it the perfect medium for transmitting healing vibrations.
Physically, water serves as a pure, neutral base that carries the essence to the user. It is clean, safe for consumption, and blends easily with natural preservatives like alcohol or glycerin. Its fluid nature allows it to be absorbed quickly into the body—either through ingestion, topical application, or even energetic use in sprays.
Water’s molecular structure allows it to act as a carrier for these subtle vibrations, delivering them efficiently through the body’s own water-based systems (our bodies are, after all, over 70% water).
In vibrational essence making, water becomes more than a liquid it becomes a living memory of the natural world’s healing energies, ready to support emotional, spiritual, and energetic wellbeing.
While there is a noticeable lack of widely published scientific research on vibrational essence therapy, much of the evidence supporting its effectiveness comes from the thousands of personal testimonies from users who have experienced positive results. The field of essence therapy would naturally benefit from broader recognition and scientific validation. However, the challenge lies in the holistic nature of this modality, which treats individuals as more than just physical bodies taking into account emotional health, mental state, lifestyle, and personal growth.
Conventional scientific studies, particularly double-blind clinical trials, are difficult to apply in this context. In essence therapy, ten people presenting the same symptom may each receive a completely different combination of essences tailored to their unique emotional and energetic needs. Furthermore, many of the benefits experienced such as increased clarity, emotional release, or a sense of inner peace are subjective and difficult to measure with standard scientific tools.
Some alternative methods of research, like Kirlian photography and aura imaging, have shown measurable energetic shifts before and after taking essences. However, until mainstream science begins to fully recognize the subtle energy systems of the human body, these findings remain outside the scope of conventional medical acceptance.
There have been notable efforts to explore the scientific potential of essences:
Brian Forbes, a consultant at the Bristol Cancer Clinic, conducted early research using Bach Flower Remedies, finding they helped patients better manage the emotional strain of illness and treatment.
Professor Michael Hyland of Plymouth University carried out a quantitative study using Green Man Essences, showing a statistically significant reduction in tantrum frequency and intensity in children aged 2–5.
research in Russia has also explored vibrational essences over recent decades, although the results have yet to be made widely available to the public.
Ongoing efforts include a long-term research project by the British Flower and Vibrational Essences Association (BFVEA) using the MYMOP tool (Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile). This approach allows clients to self-assess their well-being before and after taking essences, helping practitioners evaluate changes in symptoms over time. Findings suggest that the improvements people experience after using essences are statistically significant at the 1% level.
As interest in holistic wellness continues to grow, it is hoped that more rigorous and open-minded studies will be conducted, validating what so many users already know: that vibrational essences can gently and effectively support emotional and energetic well-being.
Many people do notice subtle but meaningful changes after taking vibrational essences though how these shifts appear can vary widely from person to person.
Because vibrational essences work on the energetic and emotional level, the changes they create are often gentle, progressive, and natural-feeling. You may not experience a sudden or dramatic shift, but rather a gradual sense of becoming more emotionally balanced, mentally clearer, or less reactive to stressors. Some describe it as “feeling more like themselves,” more grounded, or more open-hearted.
Others may notice that difficult emotions such as anxiety, irritability, sadness, or overwhelm start to feel less intense or more manageable. You might also find that patterns of thought or behaviour that once felt stuck begin to soften or shift. In some cases, these changes are accompanied by increased self-awareness or clarity around decisions, relationships, or emotional wounds.
However, it’s also entirely normal not to notice anything right away. Just like other forms of energetic or holistic therapy, the effects of essences may be working beneath the surface, clearing emotional blocks or restoring energetic balance at a level you’re not immediately conscious of.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
Ultimately, vibrational essences aren’t about forcing change they create the space for change to arise organically, at your own pace.
Vibrational essences are not intended to treat or diagnose physical illness in a medical sense, and they are never a substitute for professional medical advice or care. Instead, they work holistically addressing the emotional, mental, and energetic imbalances that may be contributing to, or arising from, physical symptoms.
Essence practitioners focus on supporting the whole person, rather than targeting specific physical conditions. However, vibrational essences are used alongside traditional care in various settings, including hospitals, hospices, and cancer clinics in countries such as Australia, the UK, and South America. Their role in these environments is to help ease emotional distress, support mental resilience, and promote a greater sense of inner calm and wellbeing.
Emerging scientific research in fields like psychoneuroendocrinoimmunology (PNI) continues to explore the powerful connection between the mind, emotions, immune system, and nervous system. This research validates the idea that emotional states can influence physical health, which aligns with how vibrational essences are understood to work by restoring energetic harmony and helping to resolve inner conflict, stress, or suppressed emotions.
While vibrational essences are not a cure, many people report improvements in overall wellbeing, including more energy, better sleep, relief from stress-related symptoms, and even physical changes, as emotional blocks are released and the body's natural balance is supported.
In essence, vibrational therapies complement physical healing by helping to restore inner alignment, which may in turn support the body’s natural capacity to heal.
While vibrational essences and homeopathy are sometimes grouped together because they are both subtle, energetic therapies preserved in alcohol and share similar terminology (such as “mother dilution”), they are fundamentally different in philosophy, preparation, and use.
Dr. Edward Bach, the founder of modern flower essence therapy, had a background in homeopathy and even developed seven homeopathic remedies during his time as a pathologist at the London Homeopathic Hospital. Despite this, he was clear in stating that flower essences and homeopathy are not the same. Here's why:
Despite their differences, both homeopathy and vibrational essences are safe for all ages, including pregnant women, and both aim to restore balance and harmony to the whole person. But it's important to understand that they operate through distinct principles and methods, and their uses should not be confused.
In today’s world, many people expect immediate results from treatments even if those results are only temporary. Vibrational essences, however, work differently. They address the deeper emotional or energetic roots behind an issue, and because everyone is unique, responses can vary widely.
Some people may notice positive shifts very quickly. For others especially when deeper or long-standing emotional patterns are involved healing can be more gradual, often unfolding in layers over time. This is sometimes described as similar to peeling an onion. Initially, you might become aware of an underlying emotional pattern or issue that was previously unconscious. That new awareness might need to be processed before resolving the original concern. As layers are revealed and worked through, different essences may be needed to support continued healing.
At times, the transformation is so subtle that users may not immediately realise anything has changed. It often takes a moment of reflection or feedback from someone close to notice how feelings, behaviours, or reactions have shifted since beginning treatment. These subtle changes are still meaningful and can represent important steps in returning to a balanced state.
Occasionally, individuals may experience what is known as a "healing crisis" in the early stages of treatment. This rare reaction may involve a temporary increase in emotional sensitivity or physical symptoms. You might feel more irritable, tearful, or emotionally raw. Pre-existing physical symptoms could also temporarily intensify, or new ones such as a rash or cough may appear. While these reactions can feel uncomfortable, they are often signs that the essences are encouraging the body and mind to release stuck energy. However, if you're concerned at any point, it's always wise to consult your practitioner.
Essences are not only for addressing emotional discomfort they are also used for personal growth, empowerment, and self-awareness. Many people take them regularly to support balance, spiritual connection, and everyday wellbeing.
Interestingly, belief is not required for the essences to work. They have shown positive effects in babies, children, and animals, who have no preconceived expectations. That said, being open and receptive can certainly enhance your experience.
Vibrational essences are completely safe and do not cause any harmful effects. However, in very rare instances, individuals may experience what is known as a "healing crisis".
This temporary response can involve an intensification of emotions or symptoms as the body and energy system begin to release old patterns and rebalance. While it may feel uncomfortable, this is generally viewed as a sign that the essences are beginning to take effect and promote healing.
If you’re ever unsure or concerned during this process, it’s recommended to consult with a qualified practitioner for guidance and support.
Most essences are made at stock strength and preserved with alcohol, though some producers offer alternatives like cider vinegar for those wishing to avoid alcohol. Since only a tiny amount of alcohol is consumed when taking a few drops, this is generally acceptable to most individuals especially if diluted in a large glass of water. Adding the drops to a hot beverage can also help evaporate any alcohol content.
Purethica essences are preserved using high-quality Australian brandy, chosen for its purity and natural preservation qualities, which help maintain the integrity and vibration of the essence over time.
For those avoiding oral use, essences can also be applied externally to pulse points or via our product range. The amount of alcohol in each product is so small that it is not detectable in the bodies blood. The essences are safe just as some over the counter medications like cough medicine, liquid melatonin or anti-antihistamines contain forms of alcohol.
Essences are completely safe for use with both children and animals. In fact, the positive results seen in these groups who are not influenced by placebo effects serve as strong evidence of the effectiveness of vibrational essences in addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioural concerns.
That said, essences should never be used as a replacement for medical or veterinary care. Always seek appropriate professional advice when necessary.
Vibrational essences are typically preserved, allowing them to be stored safely at room temperature. However, for best results, it's recommended to keep them in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, heat, strong-smelling substances, medications, and electronic devices to maintain their energetic integrity. Purethica products are all made with brown glass or brown recycled plastic. This preserves the vibrational essences from direct sun exposure keeping the integrity of the essences pure.
Purethica products are completely safe to use alongside medication. However, if you have epilepsy, are sensitive to essential oils, or wish to use the products on pets, we recommend choosing our aroma oil fragrance blends. These are skin-safe and beautifully scented, offering a gentle alternative suitable for sensitive individuals and animals. These are found in our lip butter, aromatic concentrates, wax melts and body lotions.
Selecting the right vibrational essence can be a deeply personal and intuitive process. Whether you’re new to essences or have used them before, knowing how to choose the one that aligns with your emotional and energetic needs is essential for receiving the most benefit.
There is no single “correct” way rather, there are several approaches that can help guide your selection. You may wish to consult a trained practitioner, trust your emotional responses, or even follow your nose by choosing a scent that resonates with you. Below are three supportive ways to help you find the essence that’s right for you.
When you consult with a qualified essence practitioner, they will guide you in selecting the most appropriate essences for your current needs. Practitioners often use holistic methods such as kinesiology, intuitive observation, or dowsing to assess your emotional and energetic state. They consider your mental and emotional wellbeing, life circumstances, and underlying patterns. Based on this, they create a personalised blend of essences that support emotional balance and inner harmony.
If you're selecting essences for yourself, you can choose them based on how you feel emotionally. Each essence is associated with specific emotional states—such as anxiety, sadness, lack of confidence, or overwhelm. You can read the descriptions of different essences and identify which ones resonate with your current feelings. Trust your intuition—sometimes an essence will stand out to you, and that’s often the one your body and spirit need the most.
Another way to engage with vibrational essences is through aromatherapy-based products, where scent has been carefully matched to the emotional benefits of the essences used. For example, Purethica’s fragrance blends are designed to not only smell divine but also complement the emotional healing properties of the essences they contain. You might be drawn to a particular scent because it makes you feel calm, uplifted, or centred—this natural attraction often aligns with the emotional support your system is asking for.
Each of these methods honours your individual needs, whether you seek guidance from a professional, follow your feelings, or let your senses lead the way.
Yes, it’s absolutely fine to take more than one vibrational essence at once. Often, you may feel drawn to several essences or products that each address different aspects of a particular emotional issue. These may all be relevant and offer unique support some might relate to how the issue began, while others may help with why it continues.
That said, if you're drawn to a long list of essences, it's helpful to narrow your focus. Try selecting just a few that relate to one or two key issues at a time. Trying to work on too many problems at once can complicate your healing journey and make it harder to track your progress.
For deeper or long-standing concerns, it’s recommended to email us. We can offer an objective perspective, help you prioritise your needs, and draw from a broad knowledge and selection of essences to create a personalised treatment plan using the Purethica products.
There’s no need to worry if you accidentally choose an essence that doesn’t seem right for you. If your body or energy system doesn’t require it, the essence will simply have no effect.
Vibrational essences are self-adjusting, meaning they naturally align with your individual needs and won’t cause harm if they’re not needed.
You also can’t overdose on essences they’re non-addictive, non-toxic, and don’t build up in the body. Keep an open mind, though. Sometimes we’re drawn to an essence that doesn’t make immediate sense, yet turns out to be just what we need for deeper emotional or energetic healing. Trust your intuition it’s often guiding you in the right direction.
You may also like our products so much that you use them for their aroma or skin benefits. This is completely fine and all our products can be used long term.
