You’ll need:

• Sage smudging stick (30cm)
• A lighter or long matches
• A heat-proof bowl, abalone shell, or ceramic dish
• Optional: feather or fan to guide the smoke

Instructions:

• Set your intention Before you begin, take a deep breath and focus on what you want to clear or invite into your space. This could be peace, protection, clarity, or simply a fresh energy.
• Light your sage Hold the bundle at a 45° angle and light the tip until it catches. Let it burn for about 20 seconds, then gently blow out the flame so the stick smoulders and releases smoke.
• Move mindfully Starting at your front door, slowly walk through each room in a clockwise direction. Gently wave the smoke into corners, around doorways, and near windows these are areas where energy can stagnate.
• Focus on areas of concern If certain spaces feel heavy or unsettled, spend a little extra time there. Use your feather or hand to waft the smoke.
• Finish your smudge Once you’ve moved through your whole home, return to where you started. Express gratitude for the clearing and the fresh energy.
• Extinguish safely Press the lit end of your sage into your heat-proof bowl until the embers are completely out.
• Never leave smouldering sage unattended.
